An Iranian nuclear scientist was assassinated today, by a bomb that someone on a motorcycle magnetically attached to the scientist’s car during his commute. Kevin Drum, wondering if the US was involved:
And if we are, it means we’re in the business of deliberately targeting Iranian civilians for death, with the goal of frightening their scientists and thus slowing down Iran’s nuclear program. There is, needless to say, a word that describes the act of killing civilians as a way of spreading fear and alarm. We all know what it is, don’t we?
Andrew Sullivan concurs, citing chapter and verse.
For the record, I don’t think this was us. It has Mossad written all over it. But we can’t ever seem to be able to say no to Isreal. So if Iran retaliates, that’s a distinction that really won’t matter.
The relationship between Iran and The West is astonishingly complex and hour hand are hundreds of thousands of deaths away from being clean. As this is a topic that is of particular interest to me, I posted an interesting documentary over at the kraken. You should check it out!!
