When a college student doesn’t know how to differentiate between credible and crazy sources on the internet, its bad enough. When an elected representative does it, its downright embarrassing and really a huge problem:
Morris said he did some research on the Internet and found “allegations that the Girl Scouts are a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood, that they allow transgender females to join, ‘just like any real girl,’ and encourage sex
.
A “tactical arm”? Yes, a group of heavily armed trans-sexual girl scouts is going to kick in your door and force you to buy thin mints at gun point, then they’ll use the proceeds to fund planned parenthood. Thank god the gentleman from Indiana is here to warn us about this threat, which he learned of via the internet.
And so, America, I’m here to warn you of perhaps a greater threat than marauding bands of trans-sexual girl scout militias. And that is the menacing scourge known as the velociraptor. I read about it on the internet, so it must be true. You’ve been warned!
Readers, I direct your attention to the letter itself. Not to disprove, but to reinforce the point made above. Also, and perhaps more important, the letter is HILARIOUS. Money quote in the first paragraph regarding the partnership between girl scouts and PP
“You will not find evidence of this on the GSA/WAGGGS (world association of of girl guides and girl scouts) – in fact, the websites of these two organizations explicitly deny funding planned parenthood.”
You would think that this would be followed by “but, I have found the following evidence to the contrary.” Leave it to Rep. Bob Morris to take the less predictable, don’t-present-evidence-but-instead-make-even-more-outrageous-claims route which prove effective amongst the crowd of people whose sexism, homophobia, and general fear of everything that doesn’t reek of WASP has reached the level of the demented.
Just for kicks, I’ll throw another quote in there:
“Many parents are abandoning the Girl Scouts because they promote homosexual lifestyles. In fact, the Girl Scouts education seminar girls are directed to study the example of role models. Of the fifty role models listed, only three have briefly-mentioned religious background – all the rest are feminists, lesbians, or communists.”
We thought the red devil was dead, but no apparently he is alive and kicking in Indiana!
