Nebraska, it seems, has come into possession of some sodium thiopent0l (used for lethal injections) that looks to have been obtained illegally. The state was ordered to return its supply, and went to court to keep it. Now, the court has ordered the state to relinquish the drug. Nebraska’s response:
“Other than the court’s erroneous order, we are unaware of any evidence or reasons why the Department of Correctional Services should be required to return any thiopental in its possession.”
Oh, well, in that case, do whatever you want man! Laws are pretty much optional right? And if you disagree with the court, you can just ignore it, right?
Ari Kohen has very thorough coverage of this and other death penalty related issues, if you are so inclined.
