The House GOP is violating their own debt limit agreement, and the wishes of the pentagon, by pushing for more defense spending “without additional taxes” to be offset by reducing (among other things) food stamps and the child tax credit. Or put another way, they want to raise taxes on poor people to buy weapons systems that the pentagon doesn’t even want. Or put still another way, my defense contractor friends can go buy a 2nd (3rd? 4th?) mansion, and everyone else can go fuck themselves.
Ya know, I used to approach partisan politics from the angle of “while I disagree with your ideas, I respect that we both are advocating the policies we believe are best for the country”. I still approach it in that way, with the exception of the House GOP. I don’t have even a tiny shred of respect for them anymore. It is clear that all they care about is making sure themselves and their rich friends get richer, and they don’t care who has to suffer to make it happen. They’re parasites.
