Some talk of Petraeus as a possible VP choice for Romney today. I think he would be a smart choice. Foreign Policy is easily the area where Romney is weakest, so this would up his credentials considerably. Plus, Petraeus is a war hero and everyone knows that attacking a war hero is beyond he pale, right?
Contrast that with Paul Ryan (gag) who would serve to increase Romney’s economic cred (even though he has been entirely wrong consistently), but Romney is strong in that area anyways. Or Marco Rubio, who could be an attempt to appeal to the Latino vote but I think that ship has sailed. Jindal has been tossed around too, mostly because he wants to use state funds to pay for “schools” that teach kids some kind of Christian spin on math (because regular algebra is sinful I guess?), so he would appeal to the tea party base.
My moneys on Petraeus, I think he’s Romney’s best choice from a strategic standpoint.
VP speculation is of course useless, but that’s my .02, anyways.
