Ungrateful

Shorter Christine Flowers:

Sandra Fluke is ungrateful because if she were Pakistani she would get shot so she should just shut up.

The point I want to make is simple. Whenever someone tells you to quit complaining because your life would suck if you were Pakistani, kindly inform them that America is not Pakistan. The whole notion that someone somewhere else in the world has it worse off than we do and thus we can’t ever want our own situation to be better is absurd. I’m not saying we should not be concerned about other people’s problems. We certainly should and I could point to any number of my posts in which that is clear. But I wholeheartedly reject the notion of shouting down people for advocating for a betterment of their situation because someone is in a worse situation. 

Also, I wholeheartedly reject Christine Flowers. Go read her blog. It’s terrible.
