I don’t really understand the claim that the president is “holding middle-class taxes hostage trying to increase taxes for high-income individuals”, because for better or worse he doesn’t have any intention of raising middle class taxes. This is something he has said almost every day for about five years.

That being said, I could not possibly agree with this any more emphatically:

I find it funny that we are expecting some sort of wonderful, bipartisan compromise to help us avoid the last bipartisan compromise.

That really sums it up perfectly.
